Today is day 14 since the accident in the mountains and the leg is looking pretty disgusting at this point. I must point out that the problem with my injury is NOT the result of the redneck doctorin' that took place in the church office. The infection had set in by day 2 so please don't blame the poor youth pastor. He is a fine physician and you can trust your stitch removal in his hands. Yesterday I was finally referred to wound care at the hospital but the doctor didn't really take much of an interest in my situation. He said to wash it with soap and water then put some antibiotic ointment on it and cover it up. Wow! I look forward to paying the hospital AND physician bill for that kind of medical treatment. He didn't take any interest in the fact that there are 2 holes in the wound leading straight into my leg either. In fact, his response when I asked about the underlying infection was "The body naturally fights off infection." After questioning him, he finally agreed to at least do a culture to find out what kind of bacteria was causing the infection. I'm quite sure at this point that my son could discover the bacteria in his science class lab with more expertise and that the medical care I received in the church office during staff meeting last week is far and above the medical care I have received at now TWO different hospitals! If I sound frustrated then I have successfully communicated my feelings about this series of unfortunate events. On the bright side, I'll have a lovely scar.

I hate doctors.
I'm so sorry this isn't healing well. :(
Love you
I actually used your story on my blog yesterday. That looks nasty, and I think the doctor should have admitted you for tests and ex-rays and had male nurses to take care of you.
Scar yes? Lovely....uh NO!!!! I am trying to figure out who to address my letter of complaint to. I am sorry about your wound. And yes, it is disgusting.
ok...i thought the picture of the stitches was the sickest a picture could make me feel...i stand corrected. seriously...are you going back?
What I love is that you can click the photo and make it 100 times bigger. What are those little square things??!?
