"The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic than to love others." Vincent van Gogh.
If I had to describe my love for Phil in one word, I think it would be artistic - ar·tis·tic showing imagination and skill: an artistic design. Art is interpreted by different people in different ways. From the very beginning of our relationship, we were looked upon with many differing opinions. When we first started dating, I was 15 years old and he was 24. This was certainly not perceived by some as a beautiful work of art. In fact, it was frowned upon by some. Fortunately, we didn't ask their opinion. We did seek the blessing of our parents and pastor before pursuing any relationship. They saw things differently. Many times the molding and shaping that God was doing in our lives was painful but we have often looked back and seen the beautiful piece of work that God was forming and realized that the Master Artist could see the finished product from the very beginning. Loving each other is a work of art in progress and it will never be perfect. I love that our relationship is constantly being changed by new colors and textures that God places on our canvas. I love my husband and the uniqueness of our life together. It is the most black and white print you'll ever see. So different from each other and yet so perfect together. The picture is not complete though. God continues to work on us and each new brush stroke is making us more like Him. As our lives are peered upon by others, I know there will always be differing opinions. Sometimes those negative opinions bother me. No one wants to be disliked, but we are who God made us and He makes everything beautiful.
