I Am Woman - Hear Bears Roar

My husband says I'm crazy (I could stop there, but I'll continue) because I hear things he doesn't hear. I'm really not losing my mind, I just have very sensitive ears. It probably started when we had our first child. Mothers tend to instinctively wake up at the slightest sound after their first child comes along. Unfortunately, my babies are no longer babies but I still wake up at the slightest sound. To avert any unnecessary sleepless nights, I started sleeping with a fan a few years ago - simply to drown out household noises. But turning the fan on actually created a whole new problem. Somehow, the small fan motor works like a conductor of some sort with my iHome alarm clock and now I can hear the music on my iPod even when it's not on. No, I'm not crazy! If I turn the fan off, I don't hear it and if I unplug the iHome, I can't hear it. We tried using the ceiling fan instead but it doesn't make enough noise to drown out all the other household sounds. To top it all off with a great big hunk of whipped cream and a cherry, my husband snores like I don't even know what. Last week, I had a dream that my children were playing with bear cubs in the house. I got the kids out safely but realized the bears might destroy my house so I went back inside. I couldn't see the bears but I could hear them growling at me. It was at this point that I woke up and heard the growling coming from my soundly sleeping, and snoring husband. This morning, I woke up abruptly to the sound of at least 3 drunk people conversing in my back yard. Our yard is locked and I sat up with fear wondering how they got in. Within just a few seconds, I realized it was my husband making some kind of conversational type gutteral noises with his throat. I love my husband and so getting rid of him doesn't seem to be the best answer to my problem. Ultimately, it comes down to my ears. I've tried plugs, pills, and pillows over my head with no success. I've decided to go to scripture for an answer. Matthew 13:16-17 says "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." Do you think he was referring to my husband? I guess it's a gift! :0)

You could so have been describing Joe's snoring and my inability to sleep during those times!! However, Joe carries it a step further...there are times when he doesn't breath and then all of a sudden makes all kinds of noises as he starts breathing again.

Hope you got enough sleep to function today! Have a great day!!!

Love the new look! And be glad you hear everything at night. When one of your kids sneaks out at 1:00 a.m. and takes the car, you will hear them. Not that I speak from experience, of course, because all my kids are (fallen) angels.
